It was a Tesla

Unread post by Nero »

A radiologist drove his car off a cliff in northern California, a 250 foot drop called "Devil's Slide" in an apparent attempt to kill his family and himself. They all survived and he is charged with attempted murder.

"Dharmesh Patel, 41 was charged on Monday with three counts of first-degree attempted murder after allegedly driving himself, his wife, and their two children — the 4-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl — off Devil's Slide near California Highway 1 in his Tesla.

"Everybody's been talking about … how only a Tesla could drop 250 feet and everybody survives. Well, for the 4-year-old [boy] who was in a child seat, no injuries at all." "…Every parent ought to keep that in mind."

The 7-year-old girl, who was also in a child seat, sustained "significant" injuries but was released from the hospital "fairly quickly" and will not have "long-term" physical complications, the DA's office was told.
The thought is that the Tesla's heavy battery on the bottom center of the car kept it from flipping over and crushing the occupants.
