Redfin realestate

Unread post by def_con5 »

Anyone familiar with Redfin?
it's the only estimator I could find where I did not have to put a bunch of info in, just my street address and the selling price popped up.

The number is truly outrageous ($400k), just wondered if it's accurate?

You can also get an estimate on Zillow. (For my place the Zillow number is way higher than Redfin.)

The estimate is from computer matched comps in your area.

Interesting, Zillow about $50k less, also the square footage is screwed up.

So....I know about Redfin, I think they overstate their opinions a little bit. I know I have been. Skeptical of the value they put on my properties.

Zillow is 19% higher than Redfin on my place.

Both have same sq ft.

Zillow is PROBABLY more accurate since it own the regional multiple listing services in the US. The MLS is what realtors in the area use to buy and sell houses.

Ergo, Zillow is closer to the market.

I know what MLS is. It really depends upon the quality of the algorithm that's used as everybody has access to the sales data on comps.

This page says Redfin is a bit better but points out that a human (real estate agent) is much better than an algorithm.
